(My brother is in hospital after a serious car crash. We have been spending all of our time there. The cafe has a self-service tea and coffee machine in the cafe. My dad and I are in the hospital.)

Dad: “Hey, you sort the teas and coffees from that machine. I’ll go pay for them, and get us some food.”

(I get the drinks and leave, meeting my dad outside. This happens every day, for 6 days. On the 6th day, my brother is getting discharged and we’re in the cafe waiting on him.)

Dad: “You, drinks. Me, pay.”

(I get the drinks as usual. As I’m leaving, the cashier comes running over, screaming.)

Cashier: “You didn’t pay for those!”

(It was then I learned my dad had turned me into a petty thief, and I had been stealing up to 8 cups of coffee a day, for 6 days.)
