Life Line Is About To Get Cut Short

(I’m at my parent’s house, sitting on the couch with my youngest sister. I’m 23, and she is 10. She is pretending to read my palm, but it’s obvious that she doesn’t know which line means what.)

Me: “I’m pretty sure this one says how long I’m going to live, and it’s pretty long, so I think that means I’m going to live a long time.”

Sister: “And this one says you’re going to have six kids.”

    Me: “Okay.”

(My sister makes a funny face, and bends toward my hand. I suddenly realize that my hand is wet.)

Sister: “And that one’s the pool!”

(She had spit into my hand, and done so without making any noise.)
