A Lot To Be Spankful For
(I work at a grocery store. While ringing up their purchases, I overhear part of a conversation between a mother and her daughter. The girl is probably no more than eight.)
Girl: *pointing at the cigarettes* “Mommy, why do they have smoke things?”
Mother: “Because, some people still smoke.”
Girl: “But Daddy doesn’t smoke anymore, because he almost had a heart attack!”
Mother: “That’s right. And Grandma doesn’t smoke anymore either.”
Girl: “I know, because I told her if she did, I’d spank her!”
